There are many different ways to sample a population and each type varies depending upon the requirements for the research. Begin by explaining the various types of sampling that you have found from your readings and videos, then select one type, and explain how it would fit a specific type of data collection to add meaning.
Phenomenon: The phenomenon I would like to investigate is the high turnover rate among teachers in my school district.
Quantitative research question: What is the average turnover rate for teachers in my school district? What are the factors that contribute to the high turnover rate?
Qualitative research question: What are the experiences of teachers who have left my school district? What factors led to their decision to leave?
The quantitative research question would allow me to get a general overview of the turnover rate in my school district. The qualitative research question would allow me to get a deeper understanding of the experiences of teachers who have left.
To answer the quantitative research question, I could collect data from the school district’s human resources department. This data could include the number of teachers who have left the district in the past year, the reasons for their departure, and their years of experience.
To answer the qualitative research question, I could conduct interviews with teachers who have left the district. These interviews would allow me to get a first-hand account of their experiences and the factors that led to their decision to leave.
The findings from this research could be used to develop strategies to reduce the turnover rate among teachers in my school district. For example, the findings could be used to identify factors that are contributing to the high turnover rate and to develop interventions to address these factors.
