Prayer and magic similar

Prayer is asking God to intercede on your behalf. Magic is doing something yourself to influence the universe. For example, casting a spell of some kind to get a job. You don’t owe anyone anything. In some way, prayer and magic are similar. When you pray, the words and thoughts are believed to achieve potential results. This is no different from a wizard or a pagan casting a spell. Magic tends to be an occasional thing, focused on immediate concerns. Normally people call on the magicians when the practical need arises. That is not the case with religious leaders who function as priests. In general, we find a religious priesthood where there is some kind of permanent system of worship at fixed times and places and associated with a definite religious community.
