Putting a policy into action

Now that you have officially staked out a policy position, you need to think about how to get it put into action. Who in the government, and who in your community. do you believe should be involved? What specific actions should you (and those in the community) take? Why is it important to get your community involved and what will be the benefits of activating people to the cause?

Given the importance of advocating for my policy position, it is essential to engage both members of local government as well as members of the community. By bringing together stakeholders from both sectors, a more robust consensus surrounding my policy can be formed and action will be taken to ensure that it is put into effect.

Firstly, I should reach out to various elected officials in order to garner their support for my cause. Reaching out through email or letter could help make them aware of the issue at hand and why it needs attention. During this process it would also be beneficial to connect with staff members who advocate on behalf of those in office (Eno Center For Transportation 2020); this way I can ensure that the right people are being contacted with any pertinent information about the policy proposed.

Additionally, seeking out local organizations and charities who share similar values/goals is another important step needed towards getting my policy into action. Involving groups such as these allows me to tap additional resources which may otherwise not been available due lack of connections or financial constraints (Bachman & Schutt 2018). This collaboration also strengthens advocacy efforts by providing access to larger networks which further increases public awareness about initiatives related to this particular cause.

Finally, its essential for me involve community members directly by holding discussion forums where everyone has an opportunity participate in dialogue regarding what’s going on; allowing all voices heard regardless if they are in agreement with each other or not (Aronowitz 2000). Furthermore organizing rallies/petition drives etc., helps draw attention from press outlets while gathering signatures/pledges needed provides tangible proof that citizens are passionate enough about subject matter that they want see things change.

In conclusion, engaging multiple stakeholders including government officials and community members alike is essential when pushing for change related policies proposed . Doing so helps rally support behind causes while connecting disparate groups allows access resources which would have otherwise been unavailable , increasing chances success significantly.
