What are some ways that qualitative research characteristics are fundamentally different from quantitative research? Give examples.
Whereas qualitative research is often the process of naturalistic inquiry that endeavors to find an in-depth understanding of economic and social phenomena within a given natural setting through a criterion that focusses on why and not of what, quantitative research on the other hand is described as systematic investigation of phenomenon through the process of obtaining quantifiable data and performing mathematical, computational and statistical techniques. There are several similarities and differences between the two modes of carrying out research with each mode having its own unique share of challenges and advantages. The choice between the two depends on the researcher`s goals and targets.
