1. Review the article by Broniatowski et al. on “Weaponized Health Communications” from the American Journal of Public Health (attached). It is not critical
that you understand the methods. Rather, focus on the key observations and conclusions of the article.

3. Consider the following comment by Lydia Ogden, Principal at All Access Health LLC, that was submitted on LinkedIn in reply to a post by the CEO of the
Gates Foundation, which highlighted a Scientific American article that argued for making school vaccination requirements more strict: “Around the world,
people’s distrust of received wisdom (science) and institutions (government, academia) and capitalism (vaccine manufacturers) combine to reduce
immunizations—along with other factors like cost and convenience. Tightening state mandates for school entry without addressing those other constraints
will only result in more recrimination and backlash. We need to acknowledge people’s deep-seated concerns and address them respectfully to move the
needle.”
