Zora Neale Hurston’s short story Sweat happens in a little African American people group in Southern Florida during the 1920’s the point at which the general public was as yet partitioned between the blacks and the whites. Similarly Sykes need to assume responsibility for the Delia and his family and when Delia will not hear him out he ventured to execute her. He needed to slaughter her and assume responsibility for all that she possessed. All through the story, it is recognizable that Delia Jones is in a miserable marriage and her better half has no gratefulness for the difficult work that she places in to make their relationship work. All through the fifteen years of their marriage Delia Jones had suffered only physical maltreatment and mistreatment from her significant other. The fifteen years of physical maltreatment and abuse makes Delia Jones understand that despite the fact that she had endeavored to help her family, her better half will never value the difficult work that she places in for her family. hard for the. Despite the fact that she was the just one accommodating the family she didn’t down she faced Sykes saying “Mah tub of suds is filled yo’ tummy with vittles more than yo’ hands is filled it. The way Sykes treats Delia isn’t just a direct result of an awful marriage and that he isn’t content with her. It is increasingly about the control that Sykes need over Delia. In the story the peruser can get a feeling of how much sykes hates to be reminded that he has been ineffective in accommodating his family and the way that he has no force in his own home. The accomplishment of Delia through her works is a consistent update that he isn’t in charge of his family unit. Sykes doesn’t abhor Delia as a spouse rather her achievements help him to remember his disappointments which makes him loathe himself. In actuality the more he loathed himself, for being a disappointment throughout everyday life, he despised Delia for causing him to feel that way. This put a strain in their marriage and the more fruitful Delia got in her life increasingly more their marriage endured.

Through the fifteen years Sykes has more than once undermined Delia and it isn’t on the grounds that he wouldn’t like to be with Delia any longer rather it is about the control that he lost over Delia during that time of her prosperity.
