Transitional justice refers to series of non-judicial and judicial interventions executed by different countries in order that they may curb their past dictatorial tendencies. Usually, countries employ different transitional policy frameworks dependent on their own autonomous legal, political, cultural, historical and social tradition. To this end, the inter-American court of human rights has significantly contributed to the development of jurisprudential transitional justice through enactment of various precedence. In harmony with its jurisdictional boundaries, the court has established fundamental doctrines in the area of transitional justice as hereby discussed.
