This article highlights the growing mental health crisis among African Americans due to systemic racism and discrimination in America. The author provides insight into how racism-related experiences such as microaggressions, racial profiling, and police brutality can have a negative impact on an individual’s mental well-being by increasing feelings of hopelessness and isolation (Bonilla‐Silva et al., 2017).

The article also discusses the elevated risk of PTSD that Black people face from experiencing physical or emotional trauma due to racist encounters. For example , it is noted that one study found that African American adolescents were more than twice as likely to develop symptoms associated with PTSD when compared to White individuals (Sommer et al., 2021) . As a result of their exposure to racism-induced stressors, many Black Americans are dealing with high rates of depression, anxiety and substance abuse disorders. This is further exacerbated by lack access quality healthcare resources which prevents them from obtaining adequate treatment for these illnesses. In conclusion ,article presents evidence highlighting alarming state mental health amongst black population US . Racial disparities other systemic issues have contributed drastic increase prevalence disorders such depression anxiety even post – traumatic stress disorder within community . Consequently this creates need public action improve support services those affected struggling cope adverse effects their everyday lives.
