A total of 1.7 million Syrian refugees were living in Turkey as of June 2021, and 422,867 (192,474 girls) of them were not attending school. Syrian refugee families confront a variety of challenges while trying to enroll their children in school, including language barriers, financial constraints, a lack of supportive peers, bullying, self-doubt brought on by prolonged absences from school, and racism towards female students.
