The trends that inform my Future Vision for Education (FVE) case study include both educational technology and economic/budgetary and public policy trends.
Educational technology trends are key when it comes to developing a FVE. Technology is becoming increasingly important in the classroom, as it allows teachers to access resources they never had before such as virtual labs, online courses, and real-time feedback from students (Chen & Borup, 2019). Additionally, advances in artificial intelligence are allowing teachers to be more creative with their lesson plans by incorporating personalized learning experiences for each student (Hernández et al., 2018). Finally, augmented reality is offering exciting new possibilities for teaching by allowing students to interact with 3D objects in virtual environments (Tian et al., 2020). These technologies are all essential pieces of the puzzle when creating an effective FVE.
Economic/budgetary and public policy trends also play an important role in my FVE case study. With many states facing budget cuts due to the pandemic, school districts must find ways to become more efficient while still meeting education requirements set forth by state governments (Gupta & Gottfriedson-Kearns, 2021). Additionally, federal policies like Title IX have been instrumental in ensuring equal access to educational opportunities regardless of gender or race (U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, n.d.). By taking these factors into account when creating a FVE case study we can ensure that our vision meets the needs of not only educators but also students and community members alike.
