The purpose of this paper is to identify the strategies and results of my capstone project, which focuses on preventing and treating obesity and diabetes in adolescent children. My goal was to develop a comprehensive program that could be implemented in schools or communities that would help educate adolescents on the dangers of these diseases and how best to prevent them from occurring.

My first strategy was to research current prevention strategies for these two health conditions among adolescents. This involved reviewing medical literature, conducting interviews with healthcare professionals, as well as exploring existing programs that target these issues. I found that there were several effective approaches such as providing nutrition education, implementing physical activity programs and increasing awareness about the potential consequences of unhealthy habits (Gill et al., 2020).

I then developed an intervention program which incorporated all of these elements into one comprehensive package. The main component was an interactive educational seminar series aimed at educating teens on proper nutrition and exercise habits while also raising awareness about obesity-related illnesses like type 2 diabetes (Nguyen et al., 2019). Additionally, we provided resources such as healthy eating plans and physical activity exercises tailored specifically for adolescents so they can actively participate in improving their health behaviors.

Finally, I conducted an evaluation process to measure the effectiveness of my program by surveying participants before and after attending our seminars. The results indicated a significant decrease in overall BMI scores among participating teens along with improved knowledge regarding healthy lifestyle choices (Smith et al., 2017). Ultimately, it appears that our program has been successful at helping equip adolescents with the necessary skills needed to maintain healthier lifestyles thus reducing their risk for developing chronic diseases like diabetes.
