I have developed a variety of personal and professional skills throughout my higher education journey that will benefit me in the workforce. One skill I strengthened was teamwork, as working together with my peers on projects taught me how to effectively collaborate with others and hear different perspectives (Jones & Allen 2020). This is an important component when it comes to success in any industry. Additionally technology has become increasingly integrated within educational settings so I also learned to use various tools such as word processing software and presentation apps which improved my digital literacy (Hernández et al., 2019). This will be essential for navigating future workplaces where technology plays an even larger role than before.

Communication remains one of the most important skills needed today regardless of profession or industry. Through writing essays, presenting speeches, and participating in group discussions my ability to communicate both verbally and non-verbally increased significantly (Dahlberg & Dahlberg 2017). I am now able to present ideas clearly while also understanding how individual messages change based on who they are intended for. All these skills can help me begin or improve my career by providing employers with evidence that I am capable of being a team asset rather than a hindrance.

Higher education does not only provide physical skills but it provides citizens with opportunities for social mobility which helps them advance their status within society (Knight 2016). With access to quality education people from all walks of life are able to pursue their passions without fear of economic background holding them back. Additionally, having a degree from accredited institution often looks good on resumes since employers recognize the hard work invested into getting it while also knowing students have mastered certain subjects necessary for success in their field (Anderson 2018).

In conclusion, this course has been invaluable teaching me many hard and soft skills that can be transferred over into almost any workplace setting whether it’s beginning a new job or further advancing within current one. While college may not always guarantee immediate employment after graduating, those who do obtain degrees tend to find more job stability while making higher salaries compared those without them (Gorman et al., 2018). This speaks volumes regarding why higher education should continue being valued highly within our modern society.
