Vitamin B6 is a vitamin that benefits the central nervous system and metabolism. Its roles include turning food into energy and helping to create neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine. This group of vitamins is important for proper cell function. They help with metabolism, creating blood cells, and keeping cells healthy. The richest sources include fish, beef liver and other organ meats. People who don’t get enough of this vitamin can have a range of symptoms, including anemia, itchy rashes, scaly skin on the lips, cracks at the corners of the mouth, and a swollen tongue. However, taking too much of vitamin B6 from supplements can cause: a lack of muscle control or coordination of voluntary movements (ataxia) painful, disfiguring skin lesions, heartburn and nausea.
