There are two main differences between in vitro fertilization (IVF) and natural family planning (NFP):

1. Method of Conception:

• IVF: In vitro fertilization involves extracting eggs from a woman’s ovaries, fertilizing them with sperm in a laboratory setting, and then transferring the embryos back into the uterus. This process bypasses the natural process of conception.
• NFP: Natural family planning relies on observing a woman’s natural fertility cycle to identify fertile and infertile days. This method involves tracking a woman’s basal body temperature, cervical mucus changes, and other fertility signs to predict ovulation.

2. Goal:

• IVF: The goal of IVF is to assist couples with infertility by providing a means of conception that bypasses natural fertility challenges.
• NFP: The goal of NFP is to help couples achieve or avoid pregnancy by understanding and utilizing a woman’s natural fertility cycle.
