- Active listening: This is the ability to listen carefully to what the group members are saying, both verbally and nonverbally. It is important to be able to understand the group members' thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
- Empathy: This is the ability to understand and share the group members' feelings. It is important to be able to create a safe and supportive environment where the group members feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings.
- Counseling skills: This includes the ability to facilitate group discussions, provide feedback, and help the group members to resolve conflicts. It is also important to be able to manage the group dynamics and ensure that everyone has a chance to participate.
- Self-awareness: This is the ability to be aware of your own thoughts, feelings, and biases. It is important to be able to be aware of how your own thoughts and feelings may be affecting the group process.
